Recap: 91 DX hatch
Okay, today I performed a visual on the rear suspension taking the rear wheels off and discovered the bushings(huge round rubber) on the trailing arms are totally broken inside and sloppy.
(Now I know why my rear suspension feels like it is just along for the ride, the right side will kick out on bumps)
QUESTIONS AGAIN:
So, can I just buy and replace the bushings in these beasts? (And where to buy?)
What would be the best way to go for me(I'm not married to the car yet but its getting close!)??
If this has been discussed before, I apologise, just direct me to the link.
Thanks again

If you want OEM bushings, they are now available from Honda for about $70 to your door from hparts.com . Prothane and others also offer poly bushings. You will most likely have to remove the trailing arms to press the bushings, although some have had success installing bushings while the arm is still on the car.

I replaced the bushing on my CRX with Energy suspension ones. I got to tell ya that they are bitch to get the old ones out. THe Energy suspension kit only cost me 100$ plus the OEM bumper bushing were like 12$ each (48 for 4) These are CND prices. I got these installed professionaly and it cost me 300$ to get all my suspension bushing replaced. But I got to tell ya It made quite a difference, worth every pennie.

Definately go with ES Bushings. Also, if you get the chance, look at your Main Link bushing in the Trailing Arm....the larger one in the middle with a bar going through it....it's probably fried. They cost $35 bucks.
I just TRIED to do a rear disc swap tonight and was forced to give up.
This is the reason why....and a bit of advice for when you goto do this.
The Lower Control Arm (LCA) had frozen Bolts at the trailing arm and at the subframe....not really frozen where they wouldn;t move....but they were stuck inside the metal collar of the bushing!!!! You talk about a Pain In the Ass! The Bushings are destroyed too. So I am just gonna give it up and my Wife will have to do without rear brakes for a while until the integra is finished.
But by all means do the following:
1) brush off the threads with a steel wire brush...do it good.
2) Penetrating spray like a mofo.
3) Must use an Airratchet on them....take it to a shop and have them remove em almost all the way out.
4) Use what's called Antiseize Compound and lube up the bolts when you put everything back together.
5) And have a shop do those bushings...not worth doing it yourself. Especially the Arm Bar Bushings. The Main Link You can do...but your gonna need a torch to burn out the rubber.
Anyways...my two cents. And today did turn out to be hell!

Good choice hehe, i've had those bushings on both my civics. Just make sure you use a SHIT LOAD of grease when putting them in...I mean like go out and buy another bucket of grease. Coat each bushing, and the hole where its goin into, this way they won't squeak ever.

So the sensation you got from this .....was like the ass end of the car was going to fall off when you hit a bump...pepple. Sounds like someone is hitting the side of the car with a sledge hammer
Thats what i got happening ever since i lowered the MACHINE

The problem coaster, is that I haven't lowered anything yet and it still feels like that.
I have new shocks(Tok,blue) and springs(prog.2") and bushings(prothane) arrived today. I am just waiting for the trailing arm bushings(ES)then try to recruit my friend to help me do this. Probably next Wednesday or so.
Still need SI rear lower arm bars so I can install swaybar sometime soon!!!Please!!!!
